Differences in Notary Seal and Stamp

Notaries are a necessary group of individuals that help to ensure that specified functions are accomplished at the local level in a convenient manner with the governing authority providing the boundaries. When you choose to undertake this role then you need to have a solid grip on understanding what is required of you and how unique the stamp and seal are to the position. While the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, they are in fact quite separate and every state has their own set of rules about what can and cannot be used.

Stamp Vs. Seal

The notary stamp is considered to be the ink stamp that contains the majority of information required by the state and is applied for every transaction. The notary seal embosser is a tool normally circular in nature that leaves a raised impression that cannot be seen on copies unless ink was applied beforehand. It is more generic in nature and may either be used in conjunction with the stamp or not at all but rarely can it be used in place of the rubber stamp.

Available Options For Missouri Notaries

The state of Missouri allows the use of either tool as long as the image can be seen when copies are made and both must contain the exact same information if they are going to be used separately. This gives the individual the freedom to decide whether they want to purchase a single tool or both to use during their transactions. This is why the majority of vendors offer kits or packages for notary supplies so that you can get everything you need in a single purchase at an affordable cost.

The Missouri notary image must contain the notary’s name as it appears on their certificate, “Notary Seal”, “Notary Public” and “State of Missouri.” In addition, the commissioning county’s name, commission number and the expiration date must be used but all type can be no smaller than 8 pt. and black ink is mandatory. The state seal is not permissible on this image so you may want to ask for a proof image before finalizing your purchase just to ensure that everything is in compliance.

The best vendors in the industry are those that work with quality materials, have long lasting and reliable products and have already done the research for you so that you can rely on their professionalism and accuracy. Take advantage of the tools available to you and make sure that the impressions you leave as a notary are clear and distinct every time!
